چکیده

In this study, alterations of heel strike angle (HSA) and plantarflexion velocity (PFV) in the sagittal plane due to wearing different shoe conditions was examined. By this, adaptation in running style as a mechanism of shock attenuation should be investigated. Methods Twenty-four male, injury-free recreational runners (age: 24.8 ± 2.5 years, height: 177.7 ± 5.8 cm, weight: 73.1 ± 7.1 kg) participated in this study. Three running shoes differing in heel height and cushioning properties were used: S1 = low heel, less cushioning; S2 = low heel, medium cushioning; S3 = high heel, medium cushioning.

Effect of Minimalist Shoe Heel Height on Foot Strike Pattern in Running

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism of foot strike pattern (FSP) adaptations to a minimalist shoe among the different heel height in running. We found that the strike index (SI) and foot strike angle (FSA) were systematically affected by changes in heel height. We also observed a linear correlation between FSA and SI. However, no changes in initial foot angle (IFA) were f...

The Effect of Shoe Outsole Containing Nanoclay Particles on Knee Joint Power during the Stance Phase of Running

The popularity of running and consequently of running injuries has increased tends to develop shoe sole constructions aiming at preventing different injuries. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of shoe outsole containing nanoclay particles on knee joint power during stance phase of running. Fourteen healthy male shod runners run 3 times at 3.5 m.s-1 under three shoe condi...

Background : Rocker sole are the most commonly prescribed external therapeutic shoe modification. rocker profiles have also proven useful in the treatment of conditions requiring limitation of the ankle and midfoot motions. The aim of this study was to assessed the effects of the heel- to-toe rocker shoes on the motion of the forefoot and hindfoot . Materials and Methods: In this quasi-exprime...

Effect of children's shoes on gait: a systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND The effect of footwear on the gait of children is poorly understood. This systematic review synthesises the evidence of the biomechanical effects of shoes on children during walking and running. METHODS Study inclusion criteria were: barefoot and shod conditions; healthy children aged ≤ 16 years; sample size of n > 1. Novelty footwear was excluded. Studies were located by online da...

Acute effect of different minimalist shoes on foot strike pattern and kinematics in rearfoot strikers during running.

Despite the growing interest in minimalist shoes, no studies have compared the efficacy of different types of minimalist shoe models in reproducing barefoot running patterns and in eliciting biomechanical changes that make them differ from standard cushioned running shoes. The aim of this study was to investigate the acute effects of different footwear models, marketed as "minimalist" by their ...
